![]() ![]() Understandable, but the DM has the last word, and overrules everything in the PHB and on Sageadvice if he chooses so. RAW is "Rules As Written", RAI is "Rules As Interpreted".Īs far as i know its not explicitely stated in the PHB and its a sage advice thing or one of similar spells has it more explicit. If he is right I see no point in ever using the spell again because he will literally summon fish on dry land just to screw with me. So - is he right about him choosing the creatures? If so please help me understand what text actually says this. Putting aside changing the rules mid combat which is about the worst thing you can do to an autistic player - is he right? I can only see ‘the DM has the creatures statistics’ which to me means he rolls for them not that he chooses them. I say was - last night literally in combat the DM declares he has ‘read about it’ and if I cast it I can declare the creatures challenge rating but he gets to choose the creature. I’m a L4 Druid and have used ‘conjure animals’ a few times which was a great spell. I’m autistic so will interpret the rule book literally and this has led to a few incidents now where although I know ‘the DM’s word is law’ I don’t understand how and why things are being applied. I’m in my first ever campaign and have found it quite hard to get my head around the rules and gameplay.
